Frequently Asked Questions
Why should we ask taxpayers to raise their personal income tax?
Everyone must pay their fair share to secure universal healthcare. In 2008, the average cost of employer sponsored family health insurance was $12,680. The US median household income was $52,029. This means that the cost of health insure was 24% of their household income.
Can I still have my own doctor?
YES. Under the existing multi-payer model, patients are often restricted to "network" doctors. Under a single payer model, virtually every doctor would be participating in the health plan. It would dramatically simplify billing for physicians, cover all future health care costs which would reduce malpractice premiums, and offer much more expedited payment.
Won't this make the sick likely to move into Pennsylvania?
It's not likely that the sick will simply pick up and move to Pennsylvania in order to get care. However, Pennsylvania welcomes the sick as well as their family. Their care will employ people in the Commenwealth. Their loved ones will also seek or even create jobs in Pennsylvania.
