Breakfast is this Saturday, January 28th at King's Altoona at 8:30. We have petitions for President, US Senator, State Treasurer, Auditor General  and Attorney General. If you can not attend the breakfast plan to stop at the breakfast or the Dem meeting at the RAMADA on February 6th to sign petitions
We are also planning to have the office open on Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th from 10am until 4pm for petition signing if we can get sufficient volunteers. Call 944-9924 before making the trip to the office.  Also, there is always the possibility of bad weather.
 
 
The PA Supreme Court overturned the redistricting of the General Assembly and Senate seats of PA. Until and unless a new plan is accepted Blair County will still be represented in the General Assembly by Rick Geist, Jerry Stern and Mike Fleck and John Eichelberger in the State Senate. Further information will be provided as we receive it. We would love to have these seats challenged. The petitions for these offices are available at tthe courthouse.

ViceChair Dies Unexpectedly

Randy Aurandt, the Vice Chairman of the Blair County Democratic Committee died unexpectedly on January 4th.  A service was held Saturday, January 14th at 11:00am in the The New Life Alliance Church located in East Freedom at the former elementary school .Randy was a long term employee of PennDot. He and his wife Robin were precinct reps and very active members of the committee. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Robin and a daughter Rachel Allison( married to Randy) and a grandson, Elias. Randy lived his life supporting and defending the ideals of the Democratic Party. His patience, calmness,support and insight will be sorely missed.  Memorial contributions can be sent to The Lymphoma Society 333 E. PA Dems Chair Speaks at the annual fall banquet

Here is a picture of Jim Burn, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee.  The annual fall banquet was held Sunday, October 2nd at the Ramada Inn in Altoona. An enthusiastic crowd of about 100 was addressed by the Executive director of the PA Democratic Party.  He stressed the importance of getting out to vote, getting our message to the public and continuing to be proud members of the Democratic Party.  He spoke of the importance of selecting President Obama and how important Blair County is to the process.

 

Brian Stacey, a local teacher and band director at Glendale School District addressed the group about being selected to visit the White House for the President's Economic address.  He was the only music teacher from Pennsylvania to be chosen

Donna Gority, Blair County Commissioner was recognized for having served 28 years as Blair County Commissioner.  She received a plaque honoring her for her dedication and service to the citizens of Blair County.
